Agani Gudda / Hills

What is this place

Agani gudda / hills means “Fiery muntains”. It’s a small trekking destination with a beautiful panaromic view of the nearby sakleshpura valley,

Which has many small peaks to trek and play around, suitable for family, children & everyone. At the peak one can witnness the green meadows and cold breeze weather, Pleasant ambient to spend time with family.

How to reach

By road - Sakleshpura taluk can be easily reached by many locations of Karnataka or nearest city is Hassan. Many KSRTC 🚌 or Private buses are available to Hassan/Sakleshpura frequently from Bangalore/Mysore/Mangalore/etc.,

From Sakleshpura town you have to travel further 17 km to reach Hanbal village. From here further 7km to reach Agani village, where hills trek starting point, which is nothing but the Karadikallu homestay. You can easily find this space in google maps as Agani trek starting point or Karadikallu homestay or deva dhare stay.

Earlier people used to drive till the peak, but now the road has become bad at few points,, it will be difficult to cross even for 4x4.. Bikes also difficult but can give a try... but I believe it is restircted to any vehicles now to go to peak.

By train – No direct trains available for this place, nearest railway station is Sakleshpur.

By Air - Nearest airport is Mangalore, Sakleshpura town is 130 km.

TREK

Agani hills is just 2 km max one side trek in distance from the foot of the hill, No guide is required for this trek and it is suitable for beginners and for family and kids too.

The one side 2 km Trek can be divided into two steps.🧐

  • Step 01 - 1.5 km trekking on muddy road, moderate steep, inside forest trail.

  • Step 02 - 0.5 km uphill trek on open grassland, from here

Option A is to go stright and find the small peak to witness the bottom valley of Agani hills,

Option B is to climb the highest mountain which is on your right side when u reach grassland. from that peak you get the panaromic complete view of the Agani hills range. This is the actual peak.

Time - Approximately 1hr hour is enough to reach the top for a beginner.

Best time to visit

Summer ☀️- Feb to May: Summer season, hot weather, yet but no option. Best for sunrise or Sunset.

Rainy 🌧- June to September: A best time to explore in rain, fog, drizzle, wet roads, but leeches 😜everywhere.

Winter ☁️- October to January: A perfect time for pure weather, more greenery, more foggy clouds, Cooling ambiance.. perfect time.

Accommodation/Camping

Camping at the top is bit difficult and only few areas have flat land at the top and high wind makes it very disturbing, yet worth it. But now a days due to too much waste disposal at the forest from tourists, camping might be banned to save nature. Education doesn’t give you everything in life. Discipline life gives peace. Please do not throw garbage on roads or in forest or in hills.
There are many Home stays or resorts available near the base from Budget to premium level, choose wisely by google or over internet.

Food

There are no hotels near trekking starting point, please carry enough eatables and water.

Precautions

On the very top climbing a last hill is bit steep, I recommenced with full care and safety, do it without any stupid activities. please..,

Agani solo😝

My Travel Story…

As I mentioned earlier in other blogs, Mudigere is my wife hometown, If you have read my Devaramane vlog you will get to know complete story about how am seeing places around Mudigere..,

Coming back,, I came to mudigere to visit my in-laws during October 2023, it was 3 days plan. Obviously I planned to see some places around and this time I choose Agani hills, Despite, there are no videos or blogs much about this place,, I saved it on google maps long back,, I don't know how,,

I was worried so much,,🤐 that,, just few km away,, Ettina Bhuja is so famous, people are visiting this place like madness,,😬 how come Agani hills no one knows,,, infact, i also didn't know much about it,,, so I read some old blogs of some travellers and got some info,, and decided to hike this place SOLO,, yeahhh,,, no matter what I had to do this,,,

All I know was this is just a small trek of 2km max and can be done in 30-45min to reach peak,,, and base point is near Karadikallu Homestay or Agani trek starting point or Deva dare Homestay.. Best is find Agani hills trek starting point from google maps, which is 30km from Mudigere or 24km from sakleshpura or 7km from Hanbal town.

So, I left mudigere around 9am on my ISUZU, after having breakfast and reached Agani trek starting point around 10am after giving a stop for tea and Dum,,, hehehee,,,, 😜

In other blogs it was written as till peak we can drive in 4x4, having a thought in mind, of course mine is 4x4,, nkn,, pickup truck,, to ride till peak,, when i reached the place,, there is small home at right side of the mud road,,

A home owned by Sangappa,, for easy finding,, it is opposite to Karadikallu Homestay, The small home on right,,, is actually the trek starting point..

..and here you can park your vehicle and start trekking on the mud road beside the home,,, I met sangappa, he suggested the roads are bad at peak and can't drive any car,,, so I parked there only and enquired about the trek,, he said it's just 1.5-2km trek, 30-45min,, steep trek, follow the roads,, no guide required,, it's very easy and completely safe,,, 😇

that's it,, it's exactly what I expected,, 😀

I took my camera gears,, started hiking,, as you up you find some homes at right and left,, and further forest approaches,, the trekking path is like normal mud road,, as you go higher it becomes small and it's very easy to move ahead without any confusions,

the forest sound, small water streams,, birds chirping,,, cold breeze,, still you will sweat while hiking,,,

it's a quite good ambient trek path,,, you don't see any views but walking inside the forest trail is satisfying,, after 30min of hike,, we get to see an open grassland,,, as we step out of forest trail,, there we go,, the green meadows welcomes you with a cold breeze,, wide spread meadows,,, at this point if you keep go straight a small hill with a jeep track like road you get to see, hike that small mountain peak to get to see beautiful view of the green valley,,,

it's amazing,, 😁

from that peak if turn back towards where you came, on your left a big hill which is blocking something the entire left side view is the actual Agani hills peak,,, hike that peak for almost 15min,, and you arrive the final point of Agani hills,, A beautiful panaromic view of the Agani hills,,, finally,,,

There is not much place to stand for more than 10-15 people,,, but the view is amazing,,, weather was awesome,,, Fog clouds,,, small peaking of sun rays,,, light drizzling,,, there was literally no one there,,, I was the only one,,,

that's where I shouted like Yahoooooooooo 😀

without thinking about anything or anyone,,, amazing experience,, hiking solo to this place was one of the greatest thing I ever did in my life,, thank you god!!!

After speeding some time alone, I had some chocolates which i brought,, I didn't throw the plastic cover, I kept it back,, I started descending,,, even though leeches are there,,, but not much as compared to other places,,,

in just 20min I came down to parking.. Sanagappa home has small shop with some tea, biscuits, snacks & juice,, I spent sometime with him speaking about this place,,, and wild animals,,,

actually, there is none,, only some Indian Bison - Gaur,, Kodu Kona,,, they are harmsless unless we provoke them,, I didn't get a chance to any on the peaks,,, but they are very rare,,,

finally I made Agani hills,, it's wonderful experience,, it's a must place to visit in mudigere tour or sakleshpura tour,, Get to know hot to plan this place with other places in my Trave plan page..

Take a look at my video on this blog to see the beauty of Agani hill through my lens.

Thank you 🙂
