Tadiandamol - It is the 1st highest peak in Coorg and 3rd highest in Karnataka
This place is one of the easy/moderate trekking destination in western ghats/Sahyadhri hills.
Where it is located
It’s located near Kakabe (Near Coorg) close to Virajpet (25km).
How to reach
By road - Bangalore to Virajpet is around 240km via Mysore. Many private buses and government KSRTC buses available from Bangalore/Mysore.
By train - Train facilities not available to reach this place, Mysore railway station is located around 90km from the Virajpet. Private and KSRTC buses will be available to reach Virajpet from railway station. From Virajpet to Kakkabe is around 25km, Local jeeps Autos will be available in day time only.
By Air - Nearest airport is Mysore, Kakkabe is 130km.
Best time to visit
Summer - Feb to May : Trek might be difficult due to high sunshine and heat.
Rainy - June to September : Trek will be good for people who love to explore the place in rain , but lot lot leeches will be there.
Winter - October to January : Best time to visit, fully covered with green and peaceful climate.
Trek
Trek Difficulty level - Moderate. Suitable for Freshers, Families and pro trekkers.
Trek distance - 4 km trek from base camp (Nalknad Palace), Trek path is easily visible through out the trail.
Time required - 5-6 hrs required to reach the peak. Descending can be done in 2-3 hrs.,
Accommodation / Camping
Camping site 1: On the way to Peak A huge rock available which is 2.5 km from Base camp (Nalknad Palace), here water source available and best place for camp.
Camping site 2: At the peak only 4 to 6 tents can accommodate and water source is not available. Too much wind might give disturbance to camp but its a lot worth stay.
Home stay option: There is another route to the peak of Tadiyandamol from Honey Valley Estate, its a home stay with very good accommodation and food facility, the Home stay has a private water falls too. this home stay can be easily found in google. Good for families/Couples to explore the nature also for Wildlife birds photographers.
Food - No Food facilities available on the hill or Peak. Only at the base camp can find some local shops. Please carry food if your planning to camp.
Permission
No Trekking fee or permission required from Forest office.
Things to carry - Shoes, rain coat, tent, sleeping bag, torch or headlamp, enough water bottles, emergency first aid kit, energy savers, fruits, energy bars, cookies, importantly camera. 😇
Precautions
Take some prevention from leeches in rainy season, and from heat in summer, no worry about wild animals, carry enough water to avoid dehydration, carry torch if your camping on the hill.

Trek Route - Stage 1
Nalknad palace (Base Camp) to Big rock. 2.5 km. Camping site 1, water source available and less wind. Initially trek will go inside forest and then it will leads to open grassland.
Trek Route - Stage 2
Big rock to Peak, 1.5 km. only 4-6 tents can accommodate, high wind. Trek will be very scenic with wide open beauty and later steep will increase near the peak.
My Trek story to Tadiyandamol
How it got triggered
After the grand success of Kumara Parvatha trek, after experiencing breathtaking views, night sky, summit, trekking has become addiction and i was starving to go for next 1. even my friends were awaiting for next trekking desperately, so figured out many trekking destinations and decided to summit the 3rd highest peak and with in a minute i took conference to all my friends and planned got cancelled!!.., yes,, correct,,, you read CANCELLED not CONFIRMED!. A trip will never be easy with Friends unless and until you tease some one in the team, as usual am the one that lucky fellow on each trip. They were ready but it took a lot more effort to convince and make it happen, when your a guide. So finally it was a YES!
Start to Summit
It was a Friday night, we hired a private taxi from Bangalore for 2 days to cover few other places too. We started at 10 pm after our regular office hours and peak traffic, reached Virajpet with 2 to 3 tea breaks in between, only tea nothing else, !!., we had few fruits and biscuits in our backpack for breakfast and we followed the Map direction to Nalknad palace (25 km from Virajpet), and reached the starting point of the trek which is just little further from Nalknad palace around 6am. Limited parking facility available at base camp.
We started the trek around 7 am and Tadiyandamol is just a 4 km easy/moderate trek, so we reached the first point of rest at Rock hill which is 2.5 km from the base and its a best location for camping in Tadiyandamol, where the water source is available and less wind with cold breeze and lush green background, countless stars with a complete silence. We had our diet full breakfast, yet fruits and biscuits only, as there are no food facility on the hill.
The peak is just 1.5 km steep trek we reached in 3 hours from the base, be careful in rainy season it will slip a lot and leeches will be your friends every seconds, after reaching the peak its the most beautiful spot among all western ghats, wind speed is too high and chilling cold, nerve breaking experience and yes that’s what we wanted to feel on every trek, isn’t it.
Only few tents can accommodate here but be careful about high winds.
Since our plan was to summit the trek and ahead to a another place where we had planned our stay at Bhagamandala, we had to rush back to the base. So in just 5-6 hours we completed Tadiyandamol summit.
Unfortunate was we found so many waste dumping on the hills, people came for party and all the alcohol bottles, plastic wastes and much more are thrown every corner, our humble request is we have already spoiled the city and so we are coming to have some good time on hills, so lets not do the same, please do not throw any waste and use dust bins always, which will be there at all the tourist destinations.
