In Kannada and Tulu, kode means 'umbrella', kallu means 'rock' and gudda means 'hill'.

This small trekking destination lies on Bidarathala village on Chramdi ghat road.

The roads in this ghat section are very narrow.

The hiking trail is about an hour from the main road. We need to take the Jeep route near Annappa Swamy Temple, then turn left after passing a few homes.

It's a good idea to ask the temple priest for information before the trip.

The tale of this famous place is as follows, “Strike Sala!” Hoy-Sala said the guru Sudatta Muni to his student, Sala, who was fighting a tiger. The animal had attacked them while they performed rituals at a Durga temple in Sasakapura (now known as Angadi) in Karnataka. Sala killed the tiger with one blow, becoming famous for it. The guru was so impressed that he instructed Sala to start a kingdom, leading to the creation of the Hoysala dynasty with Sosevur as its capital. This event is believed to have occurred over 1,000 years ago. The temple and remnants of other temples in the area are the only evidence of this story.

This place is a must visit in mudigere tour, to honor Hoysala dynasty.

Anagadi Lake is a beautiful place to relax.

8. Devarunda

means “Devaru idda jaaga” or “Adobe of Gods”

Devarunda is a temple for Sri Prasanna Rameshwara, located 18 km from Mudigere.

According to the local legend, Sri Rama, during his 12 years in the forest, was enchanted by the beauty of this place and chose to stay for a while. When the gods and goddesses learned of Rama's presence, they came down to be with him, leading to the name Devavrinda, which means a gathering of gods.

Source: vanamalaarts.org - Sages like Kapila and Parushurama are said to have meditated here. While Parashurama was meditating, he saw a cow pouring milk on an anthill. Curious, he dug into it and accidentally injured a Shiva lingam inside, causing it to bleed. Alarmed, Parashurama began to deeply meditate on Lord Shiva. Pleased with his devotion, Shiva appeared and told Parashurama to put sandal paste on the injured lingam. When he did, the lingam turned black and merged. Today, devotees receive sandal paste known as Vajraprasadam, which is believed to protect them from harm.

There are Shrines for Veerabhadra, Ganapathy, Parvathi and Chennakeshava within the premises of the temple.

It is also known as "Dakshina Kashi."
